An in-depth look at the movement of Mark Spitz, the protagonist of Colson Whitehead’s novel, Zone One. This map allow us to think about zombies and their relations to space, the city, the island, and their transnational and transtemporal movement.

Colson Whitehead, Zone One (2011)

Whitehead's post-apocalyptic novel, Zone One, centers on the reconstruction efforts by the American Phoenix, the new government in the post-world, in the lower-tip of Manhattan. This map shows the movement by the novel's protagonist, Mark Spitz, and the Omega Sweeper Unit as they move (physically and in memory) through New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
